About Zhu Yuanzhang
Zhu Yuanzhang was the ruler of the Ming dynasty between 1368 and 1398 and he was famously known as the ‘Hongwu Emperor’. He founded the dynasty after defeating the Yuan dynasty and became the ruler of China.
His leadership is remembered for a number of initiatives including the abolishment of the chancellor position in the Chinese government. Historical accounts further indicate that he promoted agriculture and reduced taxes.
