About Yngwie Malmsteen
Yngwie Malmsteen is a Swedish musician who is notable for playing a central role in the rise to popularity of the shred guitar style and also for his neo-classical take on heavy metal. He has since released twenty studio albums in his career, the most notables of which are Marching Out (1985), Odyssey (1988), Fire & Ice (1992), Magnum Opus (1995), Facing the Animal (1997), and War to End All Wars (2000). He was also associated with the American heavy metal bands Steeler and Alcatrazz, performing in one album for each. In 2003, he joined Joe Satriani and Steve Vai on the G3 concert tour.
The Stratocaster
Malmsteen is known for his use of the Fender Stratocaster, and Fender returned the favor by honoring him, along with Eric Clapton, with the release of the company’s first ever signature Stratocasters in 1988: the Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster and the Eric Clapton Stratocaster.
