About Yakubu Aiyegbeni
Yakubu Ayegbeni started his senior soccer career with Nigerian club Julius Berger in 1997. In 1998, he moved to Israel after signing for Maccabi Haifa. He was sent to Portsmouth in England on loan in 2003 and ended up staying until 2005 as a permanent member of the team. Continuing his career in England, he played for Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers between 2005 and 2012. Prior to his retirement in 2017, he had stints with Al-Rayyan, Reading and Coventry City.
Family Life
He grew up in Benin City, Nigeria. He has been married to Yvonne Lameen Ikhana. They got married in 2008. The marriage produced two daughters. He is the son-in-law of retired Nigerian soccer player Kadiri Ikhana.
Achievements
He won two Israel Premier League titles, one Football League First Division title and three Africa Cup of Nations third-place medals.
Trivia
He achieved 57 caps for the Nigerian senior national soccer team.
