Career Highlights
Keeler made his first Major League Baseball (MLB) appearance with the New York Giants on September 30, 1892. He played for the Giants from 1892 – 1893 and the Brooklyn Grooms in 1893. He moved to the Baltimore Orioles in the National League in 1894 and spent four seasons with them before going to play the next three seasons with the Brooklyn Superbas of the American Association (1899 – 1902).
He spent most of his career playing with the New York Highlanders from 1903- 1909 and retired with the New York Giants in 1910, making his last MLB appearance on September 5.
After his retirement, he served as a coach for the Brooklyn Superbas, Boston Braves and the Tip-Tops.
Honors
The player was ranked No. 75 on The Sporting News 100 Greatest Baseball Players list.
Keeler was also elected as a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939.
