About William Regal
Born Darren Kenneth Matthews, William Regal started his wrestling profession at the age of 15 years. After competing under a number of promotions in England, Regal had his breakthrough in 1993 when he was signed by the now defunct World Championship Wrestling. After enjoying some amount of fame under the promotion, he joined the then World Wrestling Federation in 2000. Eight years later, he won the King of the Ring tournament.
After retiring from the sport, he was named as the General Manager of WWE’s NXT brand. He has also worked as a commentator.
