While studying at the Calabar High, he represented the school in the 100m and 200m during the Jamaican High School Championships. He is originally from Trelawny Parish.
Notable Facts
Weir appeared as a hurdle finalist at the 14th Pan American Junior Athletics Championships held in São Paulo in July, 2007. The following year, he earned silver medal during the CARIFTA Games. The Jamaican Olympics Trials of 2012 saw him run to the finish line in 19.99 seconds, securing him the third place in the final. In the final of the 2013 World Championships in Athletics, he came tops in an impressive 19.66, making him the first male to have three 200m consecutive wins.

He retired from the from the sport in August 2017.
