About Walter Bagehot
English journalist Walter Bagehot was the founder of the National Review magazine alongside fellow journalist Richard Holt Hutton. Most of his reportages during were on economics, race, and government.
Bagehot was named The Economist’s editor-in-chief in 1861, a position he held for close to two decades.
Other Projects
Aside from his works in the media, Bagehot was also an author. He shot to fame with his 1867 book titled “The English Constitution”. He went on to publish other popular books such as “Lombard Street: A Description of the Money Market” and “Physics and Politics”.
Family
He was the son of former Stuckey's Bank and vice-chairman, Thomas Watson Bagehot. With his marriage to Elizabeth Wilson in 1858, he became the son-in-law of James Wilson, founder of The Economist.
