About Vinod Kambli
Vinod Kambli is a famous retired Indian cricket player. He had one of the best careers for an Indian cricketer, as he played numerous tournaments and broke several records. He has also been active in Indian politics and starred in a handful of Bollywood films.
Early life
He was born and raised in Mumbai. He attended Shardashram Vidyamandir School, Mumbai. Together with famous cricketer Sachin Tendulkar they broke the world record after completing 664-run in the semi-final match of the 1988 Harris Shield tournament.
Professional Career Highlights
His first-class debut came in the 1989-90 season when he played for Mumbai. Kambli played his ODI debut in 1991 at the Wills Sharjah Trophy. He played for India in the 1996 and 1992 Cricket World Cups.
However, he played his Test debuts in 1991. In his Tests career, he made a total of four centuries, which included two double-centuries. In 2002, he joined the Boland first-class team in South Africa's domestic circuit.
He retired from cricket in September 2011.
Politics & Bollywood
He is a member of the Bhakti Shakti Party. In 2009, he was a candidate during the Assembly elections in Mumbai; however, he lost the elections. He supported Anna Hazare during his 2011 campaign against Corruption in India.
He starred in the 2002 and 2009 Hindi movies "Annarth" and "Pal Pal Dil Ke Ssaat."
