About Victoria Pendleton
Victoria Pendleton is one of the most decorated female British cyclists of her generation. Specializing in the sprint, keirin, and team sprint events, Pendleton won a total of two Olympic gold medals and nine World Championships before announcing her retirement in 2012.
She has also represented Great Britain at a number of competitions including the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.
Other activities
After retiring from cycling, Pendleton continued her career as a jockey. In 2015, she participated in her first competitive event which was the Betfair Novice Flat Amateur Riders' Handicap. She came second after the tournament.
She has also appeared on a number of TV shows including “Strictly Come Dancing”. The British published her autobiography in 2012 titled “Between the Lines”.
Family
She’s one of the children of Pauline Viney and Max Pendleton. She has a twin brother called Alex and an elder sister named Nicola. In 2013, she got married to sport scientist Scott Gardner.
Education
After Fearnhill School, she enrolled at Northumbria University to study Sport and Exercise Science.
Achievements
She was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2009. Four years later, she was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
