The Indiana native made his silent film debut in 1910 in “A Dog on Business”. He also landed gigs in one-and two-reel comedies, such as the “Snakeville” series. He often played supporting parts and starred in talkies like “The Big Store” and “Three Godfathers”. Other film credits include “Itching Palms”, “A Lost Lady” and “The Carnival Girl”.
As a Director and Screenwriter
Potel played directorial roles in the production of the films, “The Rubber-Neck” and “Action Craver”. He later wrote the dialogue for Albert Herman’s “Million Dollar Haul”.
Personal Life
He married Mildred Ludmilla Pam in 1914. The couple remained together until his death in 1947.
