About Ty Cobb
Ty Cobb was a top American baseball player who played as an outfielder. He spent almost his whole playing career with the Detroit Tigers, which he joined in 1905. After roughly 22 years with the Tigers, he joined the Philadelphia Athletics in 1927.
Family
His mum, Amanda Chitwood Cobb, shot and killed his dad, William Herschel Cobb in 1905. He had two junior siblings. He had been in two different marriages and was blessed with three children, though two died at a very young age.
Achievements
From 1907 to 1915, he won nine batting trophies. In total, Cobb received 12 batting trophies before he retired from the game.
In 1936, he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Trivia
In 1921, he was named a player/manager of Detroit Tigers.
He was ranked third in Sporting News’ “100 Greatest Baseball Players” in 1998.
