About Tom Seaver
Tom Seaver began his career in the Major League Baseball in 1967 after joining the New York Mets. Throughout his successful career in the league, the American, who mostly played as a pitcher, featured for a number of teams such as Cincinnati Reds, and the Chicago White Sox. He started his career at a very young age and also represented his college baseball team called USC Trojans.
Family
He was raised by his parents known as Charles Henry and Betty Lee Seaver. He married a lady named Nancy Lynn McIntyre in 1966 and together they gave birth to children namely, Annie and Sarah.
Achievements
In 1967, he won the “National League Rookie of the Year”, and also won the “NL Cy Young Award” on three different occasions. He became a member of the “National Baseball Hall of Fame” in 1992. He has also been inducted into both the New York Mets, and the Cincinnati Reds Halls of Fame.
Death
Seaver passed away, aged 75, after battling Lewy body dementia. Prior to his death, his family, in 2019, announced that the baseball legend was struggling with Alzheimer's dementia.
Trivia
In 1988, the New York Mets retired the number 41 jersey in his honor.
He was known by other names including, "the Franchise".
