He is a Welsh singer who was born Sir. Thomas Woodward but he is known by his stage name, "Tom Jones". He rose to fame during the mid-19960s, releasing multiple top-ten hits.
In 1963, he was named the frontman of a Welsh beat group, "Tommy Scott and the Senators".
His vocal range includes country, show tunes, R&B, dance, gospel, pop and soul. The New York Times in 2008 described him as a musical "shape shifter", due to his ability to swiftly switch between different genres at any given time.

Family Life
He is the son of Thomas Woodward, who was a coal miner. His mother is Freda Jones. He has a sister named Shelia Woodward.
He got married to his high school sweetheart, Melinda Trenchard in 1957 and they both stayed married for about 59 years till her death in 2016. His children are Welsh manager, Mark Woodward and singer, Katherine Berkery.

Jones won the "Best New Artist" at the Grammy Awards in 1966.
