About Timothy Peake
Major Timothy Nigel Peake CMG is a prominent British astronaut, who is also noted for serving as a British Army Air Corps officer. In 1994, he officially became a helicopter pilot and in 1998 he became a helicopter instructor.
Peake was one of the six people out of over 9,000 applicants who had a place in the European Space Agency (ESA) training program for astronauts.
In 2012, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) publicized that he would join the Aquarius underwater laboratory as an aquanaut for the NEEMO 16 exploration mission. He was also a backup astronaut during the Expedition 44 for spaceflight called Soyuz TMA-17M.
Family
His wife is identified as Rebecca. His children are Oliver and Thomas.
Achievements
Peake was named as Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George. He also set the record for being the first ever British ESA astronaut.
