About Thomas Crapper
Thomas Crapper was a noted English plumber and industrialist remembered for being the founder of Thomas Crapper & Co. Throughout his lifetime, he held a total of nine patents, one of which was for the development of the floating ballcock (float valve).

He was married to Maria Green from 1860 to 1902.
Trivia
Contrary to popular belief, he was not the inventor of the modern flush toilet (Water Closet). The flush toilet was actually invented in the 16th century by an English writer named Sir John Harington.
People sometimes refer to him as “Sir Thomas Crapper”, but in actual fact he was never knighted.
It is popularly thought that the slang word for human excrement "crap" is derived from his surname "Crapper" because of his lifelong work with lavatories. This, however, isn’t true.
