Personal Life
She was the daughter of Irving Gross who was a hat maker and Anne Abrams who worked as a stenographer. She was raised in a Jewish family and became a student of Sheepshead Bay High School. She continued her education at the State University of New York popularly referred to as University at Buffalo. She got married to her school mate while in the university but the marriage did not survive. In 1994, she became the wife of Francis David after being together for over fifteen years.
Career
She started her career in journalism at WBFO in 1973. About two years later, she started working for WHYY-FM where she became a host and producer of the show “Fresh Air”. It became a major nation-wide show with lots of listeners especially when the name was changed to “Fresh Air with Terry Gross”. She went on to make her mark in the world of journalism.
Trivia
She made a personal decision to not have children and has stood by it together with her husband.
Achievements
She received the Peabody Award in 1994, then in 2007, she received the Literarian Award from the National Book Foundation
