About Terry Adlington
Terry Adlington was a professional goalkeeper who played in both the English and North American leagues.
Career
Adlington was playing for his local team, Blackwell Colliery Welfare when he was approached by Derby County. He made his English league debut in 1957 and played in 36 games before joining Torquay United in 1962. The next year, he scored a goal during an FA cup game, which wasn’t common with goalkeepers.
In 1967, he left England to play in the North American Soccer League. He first played for the Baltimore Bays and then moved to Dallas Tornado. After retiring, he started his football management career and managed Dover FC and Maidstone United.
Personal Life
Adlington is the grand-uncle of Olympic swimmer and gold medalist, Rebecca Adlington. He died in 1994.
