Taylor Hackford is an American director who served as the President of the Directors Guild of America from 2009 to 2013.
In 1973, he produced his first film, a documentary titled “Bukowski” which he also wrote. His best-known works include the 1978 short film “Teenage Father” and the 2004 biographical musical drama film, “Ray”, both of which he did not just direct but produced and wrote as well.
Family Life
Mary and Joseph Hackford were his parents. His first two marriages, to Georgia Lowres and director Lynne Littman, produced two children. In 1997, he became the husband of actress Helen Mirren.
Achievements
“Teenage Father” won him an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film in 1979. He also gained two Academy Award nominations for his film, “Ray”.
Trivia
He served as the director for the official music video for Phil Collins’ song, “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)”.
