About Sydney McLaughlin
Sydney McLaughlin made her amateur debut at the 2014 edition of the national junior championships at the age of 14. The following year, she got her start on the world stage in the 400m hurdles event in the 2015 IAAF World Youth Championships.
From 2017 to 2018, she was a member of the University of Kentucky’s athletics team, participating in the 2018 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship and the 2018 SEC championship. She turned professional in June 2018.
Family Life
She is the younger sister of American hurdler Taylor, the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships 400-meter hurdles silver medalist. Her parents Mary and Willie were also amateur and professional runners respectively.
Achievements
She won a gold medal in the 4×400 m relay event and a silver medal in the 400 m hurdles event of the 2019 World Athletics Championships.
