About Syd Barrett
Syd Barrett was a composer, singer-songwriter and painter best known as a founding member, lead singer and guitarist of the band Pink Floyd. He was credited for giving Pink Floyd its name. He began a solo career after being excluded from Pink Floyd and released the album The Madcap Laughs in 1970. He is considered one of the pioneers of psychedelic rock. His life was plagued with mental illness and drug addiction.
Family Life
He was the third of five children born to Winifred and Arthur Max Barrett. He never got married and had no children.
Trivia
In 1996, as a member of Pink Floyd, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was not present during the ceremony.
