About Susan B. Anthony
Susan B. Anthony was an American feminist, abolitionist and author regarded as one of the most prominent women's rights leaders in America's history. She is best known for her instrumental role in getting women in the United States the right to vote. Besides her advocacy for equal rights for women, she was also an active anti-slavery activist.
Family Life
She was the second of seven children born to Lucy Read and Daniel Anthony. She never got married nor had children.
Trivia
By the age of three, she had learned how to read and write.
She defied authorities and voted in the 1872 United States presidential election. Since it was illegal for women to vote at that time, she was considered to have committed a crime and was fined $100. She never paid the fine.
14 years after her death, her hard work eventually paid off as women in the United States finally got the right to vote.
