About Stipe Pletikosa
Stipe Pletikosa is a product of the Hajduk Split youth system. Considered as one of the team’s brightest talents during that period, he was promoted to the senior team and made his professional debut in 1996. The Croatian goalkeeper won a Prva HNL title and a couple of Croatian Cups during his seven years in the league.
He began the 2003/04 soccer season with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukrainian league. Pletikosa also featured for teams like Deportivo La Coruña, Spartak Moscow, and Rostov before announcing his retirement in 2016.
International Career
The goalkeeper featured for Croatia’s various youth sides before playing his first game for the senior team in 1999. With the team, he featured in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup competitions. He was also his country’s number one goalkeeper at the 2004 edition of the UEFA Euro.
Post-retirement
Pletikosa has held different positions after hanging his boots. In 2021, he was named as the technical director of Croatia’s U21 and senior national teams.
Honors
He won the Ukrainian Super Cup, and the Vyshcha Liha with Shakhtar Donetsk. In 2000 and 2002, he was given the Heart of Hajduk Award. He was also named Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2002.

As a goalkeeper, he scored four goals during his time at Hajduk Split.
