Stewart Granger was an English actor who was catapulted into the spotlight starring in the 1943 film The Man in Grey. He gained further prominence starring in films such as 1944's Fanny by Gaslight and 1945's Madonna of the Seven Moons. At the height of his career, he was regarded as one of the most popular British stars.
Family Life
He was the only child of Frederica and Major James Stewart. He was married and divorced three times. His third and final marriage to Caroline LeCerf produced a child. He had three other children from his first two marriages.
Trivia
He was a heavy smoker, who smoked in the region of 60 cigarettes every single day for several decades.
In 1980 doctors misdiagnosed him with cancer of the lung and removed a portion of his lung as well as one of his ribs. It was later discovered that he was rather suffering from tuberculosis.
