Steve Slaton is a retired running back who played in the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Childhood
The Pennsylvania native was born to Carl and Julia Slaton. Slaton was completely deaf in his early years. His temporary disability did not stop him from always being active. He made the football team when he attended Conwell-Egan Catholic High School as a teenager.
College Years
Slaton attended West Virginia University and played for the Mountaineer team from 2005 to 2007. In his first season, he helped his team win the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl and set a new record consisting of 204 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns, earning him the title Sugar Bowl MVP.
Professional Career
In 2008, Slaton was drafted into the Houston Texans in the NFL. He also played for the Miami Dolphins and later headed up north to play for the Toronto Argonauts in Canada. He retired from football in 2015.
