About Steve Bruce
Steve Bruce is a retired football player and a football coach. He played as a defensive midfielder. The first team he played for was Gillingham FC. He played 237 games and scored 38 goals for the club.
In 1984, he joined Norwich City of the Premier League, playing in 180 matches and scoring 21 goals. In 1987, Bruce moved to Manchester United for a transfer fee of £825,000. He rose to prominence during his playing days at the said club.
He also played for Birmingham City and Sheffield United. Bruce finished his playing career with a total of 113 goals while playing in 926 games.
Managerial career
As a manager, he made his debut in 1998 when he coached Sheffield United. Other teams he has managed include Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday, and Hull City. He joined Newcastle United as their head coach in 2019.

He is the child of Sheenagh and Joe Bruce. He has two male siblings. In 1983, he tied the knot with Janet Smith. His two children are Alex Bruce and Amy.

He won the 1984-1985 Football League Cup, and the 1985-1986 Football League Second Division title with Norwich City.
