About Slim Pickens
Slim Pickens was an American rodeo star and actor who often played cowboy roles in films and television series. He is best remembered for his portrayal of Major T. J. "King" Kong in the 1964 satire black comedy filmDr. Strangelove and Taggart in the 1974 Western comedy film Blazing Saddles. In 1982, he received his induction into the Western Performers Hall of Fame.
Family Life
He was born to Sally and Louis Bert Lindley, Sr. He was the older brother of actor Easy Pickens. He was married to Margaret Elizabeth Harmon from 1950 until his death in 1983. He and Margaret had three children together.
Trivia
He lost his life after undergoing surgery for a brain tumor.
In 2005, he was posthumously inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.
