About Shoeless Joe Jackson
Shoeless Joe Jackson, also known by the nickname “Shoeless Joe”, was an American professional baseball player who began his Major League Baseball career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1908. Upon his departure from the Athletics, he played for the Cleveland Naps/Indians and the Chicago White Sox. His career came to an abrupt end in 1920 after his alleged involvement in the Black Sox Scandal, in which eight White Sox players were accused of collecting bribes to deliberately lose games.

He was married to Katherine Wynn from 1908 to 1951. The marriage was childless.
Trivia
As a result of his role in the Black Sox Scandal, he was banned for life from baseball.
He died of a heart attack in 1951 at the age of 68, making him the first of the eight banned White Sox players to die.
In 1999, The Sporting News placed him at the 35th position on their list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players.
