About Shaun Alexander
Retired professional football player Shaun Alexander made his debut in the National Football League in 2000 as a first-round, 19th overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks. He had entered the NFL draft following four seasons (1996 to 1999) of college football with the Alabama Crimson Tide team. He played for the Seahawks in the NFL until 2008, when he was released by the team. His hopes of continuing to play in the league were dashed after the Washington Redskins, which had signed him in October 2008 cut him from the team just after a month.
Family Life
At age 11, his parents, Carol and Curtis got a divorce. From then, Carol raised him alongside an older brother named Durran single-handedly. He has been married to Valerie Boyd since 2002. They have 10 children together.
Achievements
In 2005, he emerged as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, Offensive Player of the Year and the recipient of the Bert Bell Award. He is an inductee of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
Trivia
He established a charity organization, the Shaun Alexander Foundation.
