About Shaggy (Orville Richard Burrell)
Shaggy is the stage name of Jamaican-American singer, musician, DJ and actor, Orville Richard Burrell. Before he started pursuing a music career, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 1991 and attained the rank of Lance Corporal. In 1993, he released his first studio album “Pure Pleasure”, which contained his first hit single, “Oh Carolina”. He would achieve international chart success with subsequent hits such as “Boombastic”, “Angel” and “It Wasn’t Me”. His songs are of the reggae fusion and dancehall genres.
Family Life
He was raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He is the father of rapper Robb Banks and four others. He married Rebecca Parker in 2014.
Achievements
He won a Grammy Award in 1996 and 2019 and a Brit Award in 2002.
Trivia
He played the role of Mace in the 2004 action film, “Blast”.
