Sergei Prokofiev was a famous Russian composer, pianist, and conductor.
His Work
Regarded as one of the most important 20th century composers, Prokofiev has created works of many styles. Though he started as virtuoso composer-pianist, he also wrote seven operas, seven symphonies and eight ballets. His most known works include The Love for Three Oranges, Romeo and Juliet, and Peter and the Wolf. His more virtuosic oriented compositions, which had characteristic 20th century dissonance, included piano, violin, and cello concertos. Prokofiev is now often considered a 20th century Mozart because of his talent and large number of quality works.
