About Satyendra Nath Bose
Between 1916 and 1921, Satyendra Nath Bose worked as a physics lecturer at Calcutta University. Three years after leaving the institution, he published a write-up entitled “Max Planck's Law and Light Quantum Hypothesis” which was later appreciated by renowned physicist Albert Einstein. The article, which was based on the quantum mechanics subject, would serve as the foundation for the “Bose-Einstein” theories.
Family
His dad, Surendranath Bose worked as an engineer. He had six other siblings. The Indian physicist was married to a lady called Ushabati Ghosh, and was blessed with nine kids.
Education
Before earning his first degree at Presidency College, Bose studied at the New Indian School, and the Hindu School. He continued at the University of Calcutta.
Honors
In 1954, his country honored him with the Padma Vibhushan award. Four years later, he was named a Fellow of the Royal Society. He was also nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physics award on many occasions.
Trivia
Bosons, the substances that obey the statistics of the “Bose–Einstein” theory, was named after him by English physicist, Paul Dirac.
He was considered a polymath and contributed to academic fields such as chemistry and philosophy.
