Santonio Holmes is a retired American football player. He is known for his position as a wide receiver in sport.
Background and Education
He hails from Belle Glade in Florida. He had his high school education at Glades Central High School in Belle Glade. He went on to have his college education at Ohio State University.
Career
Before his professional career as a footballer, he used to compete in basketball and track in high school. He was also redshirted in college.
He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2006. Standing at 5 ft 11 inch, Holmes was selected during the first round of the NFL draft. He was 25th among those who were selected. He played number 10. His performance during his first season in Pittsburgh was poor. The best season of his career was in 2009. He had 79 catches, 1,248 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He was switched from Pittsburgh to play for the New York Jets in 2010. Before this switch, he was suspended by the NFL for a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He was let go by the Jets and signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. He retired from football in 2017.

He has a Super Bowl championship award. He was also named the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII.
Personal life
As of 2022, he has two daughters and two sons.
