About Santiago Calatrava
Santiago Calatrava started gaining attention in 1983 when he was credited for his designing a number of industrial structures. Since then, the renowned Spanish architect and sculptor have designed some of the world’s most popular structures including the Milwaukee Art Museum, New York City’s World Trade Center Transportation Hub, and the Olympic Sports Complex of Athens.

He has been married to a lady called Robertina.
Education
He completed Paris’ Ecole des Beaux Arts and continued at Polytechnic University of Valencia where he was a student of the Higher School of Architecture department. In 1975, he started his education at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology.
Awards
His works have earned him many accolades which include the European Prize for Architecture, Prince of Asturias Award, and AIA Gold Medal.
Trivia
His initial idea was to become an artist until he read a book about Le Corbusier.
According to him, he was motivated by the works of Robert Maillart, a Swiss engineer.
