About Sanna Marin
Sanna Marin is a popular Finnish politician. In 2019, she was elected as the Prime Minister of Finland. Prior to assuming office, she had served in other public positions including the Minister of Transport and Communications. She was elected to her country’s legislative body in 2015.
Her political career started in 2006 when she joined the youth wing of the Social Democratic Party. She was elected as the vice president of the group in 2010.
Her breakthrough came in 2012 after she was voted to the City Council of Tampere.
After Antti Rinne’s resignation as the Prime Minister in 2019, her party tapped her as Rinne’s replacement, beating fellow Social Democratic Party member, Antti Lindtman in the election.
Trivia
Upon assuming office in 2019, Sanna became the youngest serving leader of any country.
She also became the third female to head the country’s government.
