Personal Life
The name given to him at the time of his birth was Samuel Andrew Donaldson Jr. and is the child of a farmer by name Samuel Donaldson and a schoolteacher named Chloe Hampson.
He was enrolled at New Mexico Military Institute then from there, he studied at Texas Western College. He later joined the Army of the United States and rose to the ranks of Captain. He is known to have been married a few times. He was the husband of Patricia Oates, Billie Kay Butler, Janice C. Smith before marrying Sandra Martorelli in 2014.
Career
When he left the military, he started working for the media and joined KRLD-TV for about a year before relocating to New York but he actually did not succeed there. He then decided to work at WTOP-TV as a journalist and went on to be an anchor. In 1967, he got a job at ABC News. He worked with World News Sunday, This Week and The Sam Donaldson Show.
