About Sadako Sasaki
Sadako Sasaki was a Japanese victim of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. She suffered radiation after she was blown out of the window of her home at age two by the bomb explosion. Her family lived just 1.6km away from ground zero. Almost a decade later, in January 1955, she received an acute malignant lymph gland leukemia diagnosis. She died in the same year. She is one of the most popular victims of the atomic bombings in Japan, popularly referred to as hibakusha. She is also known for having folded 1,000 paper cranes in the hospital before her death.
Family Life
She had a brother named Masahiro who co-authored a book about her life titled “The Complete Story of Sadako Sasaki”.

She died on October 25, 1955 from leukemia.
