About Ruth Lyons
Ruth Lyons was a pacesetter and icon in the world of broadcasting – she worked as broadcaster in radio and television.
Personal Life
When this beautiful star was born, she was named Ruth Evelyn Reeves by her parents, Samuel Spencer Reeves and Margaret Keturah Henry. Both her parents were into music and her father was a music teacher at the University of Cincinnati and she had siblings who were younger than her.
She was enrolled at East High School then she went on to attend Cincinnati College of Music. She later met Johnny Lyons who captured her attention and after dating for almost a decade, they got married. Distance however caused a rift between them and they ended the marriage. She then went on to marry Herman Newman.
Career
In 1928, she started working at WKRC and became a host when the only host available fell sick and she had to stand in even though she did not know much about the field. Her work was impressive and therefore, she continued from there. She also worked at Crosley Broadcasting and on the 50/50 Club show.
Death
She suffered a few strokes and became weak so she was bedridden for a few years before she passed away in 1988.
