Russ Abbot is a multitalented English comedy actor, TV program presenter, drummer and musician.
Career: Music, TV Shows and Films
Russ joined the Black Abbots band in the 1960s. The group recorded singles in 1970 and released many comedy singles and one live album in 1977. His single “Atmosphere” was 7th in the UK Top 10 in 1985.
He was a presenter on a number of 1970s TV shows, including “The Comedian”, “Who Do You Do” and “What’s on Next”.
He hosted the TV show “Russ Abbot Madhouse” and “The Russ Show” in the 1980s. He also hosted the “Stars in Their Eyes” temporarily in January 1993 in the absence of original presenter Leslie Crowther. Russ hosted many other TV shows between 1971 and 2016.
Abbot starred as a lead in “Doctor Dolittle” in 2000. He played Alfred Doolittle in “My Fair Lady”, the Narrator in “Rocky Horror Show”, and Fagin in the stage musical “Oliver!” in 2009.
From 2014 to 2016, he co-starred in the BBC TV sitcom “Boomers”.

As of 2022, he has scooped the ‘Funniest Man on Television Award’ five times.
