About Rory Gallagher
William Rory Gallagher was an Irish musician, songwriter and producer. He garnered popularity in the late 1960s as the founder, vocalist and guitarist of the Irish blues rock band, Taste. He had his breakthrough as a solo act in the 1970s, when he came out with ten albums.
He became famous through his tours across Ireland. His well-known albums include “Live in Europe”, “Blueprint” and “Rory Gallagher”.
Family Life
He was born to Monica and Daniel Gallagher. He and his brother, Dónal, were brought up in Cork, Ireland.
Achievements
In 2012, he was named in the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list compiled by Rolling Stone Magazine – he was ranked at the 57th spot. Two years prior, Gibson.com put him at number 42 on its “Top 50 Guitarists of All Time” list.
Trivia
A bronze statue of him can be found in County Donegal, his birth county.
