About Ron Harper
Ronald Harper Sr was an American athlete who played basketball for a few teams in the National Basketball Association for almost two decades.
Personal Life
He was born with his twin brother and lived with their mother who was a single parent. His mother had challenges bringing him and his five siblings up. He is the father of Ron Harper Jr and Dylan Harper, both basketball players.
Education
He schooled at Kiser High school after transferring from Belmont High School.
Career
He started his amateur career in college when he played for Miami University. After school, he started playing professionally when the Cleveland Cavaliers selected him for their NBA Draft in 1986. He stayed with the team for about three years before moving on to Los Angeles Clippers. He started off well there until he got a very bad knee injury and had to undergo surgery.
He stayed with the team for about five years then moved to Chicago Bulls in 1994. By 1999, he had moved to Los Angeles Lakers and as a free agent, he signed a two-year contract with them. With his involvement, the team won the NBA championship for the second time.
Trivia
He featured in “Kenan & Kel”, a sitcom from Nickelodeon in 1997. In 2006, Harper attended a ceremony at Kiser High school at which the school's gym was named after him.Ron Harper Rank
