About Ron Francis
2007 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Ronald Michael Francis Jr. is a former Canadian professional ice hockey centre. He also doubled as a manager and was named the general manager of the Hurricanes in 2014.
Early Life
The hockey player lived most of his youthful life in Canada and discovered his love for hockey at a young age. He went on to play in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments from 1975 to 1976 with a minor ice hockey team.
Career
Francis' professional career began in 1981 when he was drafted by the Hartford Whalers in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft. After more than 8 seasons with the team, Francis was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins and later went on to play for the Carolina Hurricanes in 1988. The hockey player finally spent most of the rest of his career playing for Toronto Maple Leafs till his retirement in 2005.
Personal Life
Francis married Mary Lou Robie in 1986.

Stanley Cup champion in 1991 and 1992
He also won the Lady Byng Trophy in 1995, 1998 and 2002.
