About Roh Moo-hyun
In 1988, Roh Moo-hyun became a member of the Democratic Reunification Party following an invitation by Kim Young-sam. Later that year, he was voted into the National Assembly to represent the Dong district in Busan.
He was appointed as South Korea’s Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries in 2000 serving under President Kim Dae-jung. Three years later, he was sworn-in as the President of the country. During his tenure, he oversaw the development of the country’s economy and strengthened their currency against the US dollar.
The renowned politician was also admired for his fight against regionalism in the country’s political scenes.
Family
He was raised by his parents alongside four other siblings including Roh Gun-Pyeong. He was married to Kwon Yang-sook who later became the First Lady of South Korea.
Education
He completed Dae Chang Elementary School.
Honors
His works earned him several laurels including the Grand Order of Mugunghwa and the United Kingdom’s Knight Commander of the Order of the Bat.
Death
He committed suicide in 2009.
Trivia
He was an author and published many books with some titled “Honey, Please help me” and “Success and Frustration”.
He also worked as a lawyer and was called to the bar in 1975.
He was the inspiration behind the film titled “The Attorney” which was released in 2013.
