Professional Hockey Career
Vachon turned pro in 1966 after joining the Houston Apollos and was the first team member to wear the number 29 jersey. He joined the National Hockey League in 1967 to play for the Canadiens, where he helped the team win the Vezina Trophy. He also played for the LA Kings and the Detroit Red Wings.
In 1976, Vachon won the Canada Cup tournament and was named MVP.
Achievements
Between 1968 and 1971, Vachon won the Stanley Cup three times. He also played in three NHL All-Star Games and in 2016, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Family
Vachon married Nicole Blanchard in 1971 and they had three children. Sadly, Blanchard passed away in 2016.
