He was an American actor who was prominently known for his works in films, stage and television. His most prominent role was his feature in the 1960s series, "The Man from U.N.C.L.E", where he played the role of 'Napoleon Solo'. Some other notable series in which he has starred in include; "The Protectors" (1970), "Centennial" (1978 - 1979), "Hustle" (2004 - 2012) and more.

He was born to father, Gerald Vaughn, who was a radio actor. His mother was Marcella Frances, who was a stage actress. He got married to actress, Linda Staab in 1974 and their marriage spanned for about 42 years, until his death in 2016. He fathered children, Cassidy and Caitlin Vaughn.
Achievements
He won the "Outstanding Continuing Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" at the 1978 Primetime Emmy Awards. He was honored with a "Star on the Walk of Fame" in 1998.
