Personal Life
He had interest in football since he was a young boy. When he understood the game, Werder Bremen was the team he chose to support. He loved to watch the games up close when he became a ball boy for the DFB-Pokal Final in 1997.
Career
He started his professional career with Chelsea in 2001 but in 2004, he got injured and his performance was affected. When his time at Chelsea was almost over, other teams had the opportunity to bid for him but he ended up joining Middlesbrough. While with them, he suffered a few injuries and was unable to play up to expectations. In 2009, he joined Stoke City then moved to Leicester City on loan. He later completed his transfer to the team. He is known to have played for the Germany Under 20 and Under 21 national team.
Trivia
He took part in a twitter game where sexual photos were posted and people were asked to guess who it was. Even though he deleted proof of his involvement, the FA fined him and banned him from two matches as punishment.
