Robert Liefeld is an American writer, editor, Publisher, and artist who specializes in the creation of comic characters. He is best known for collaborating with Louise Simonson in the creation of the character “Cable” and “Deadpool” with Fabian Nicieza.
Background
Rob was raised in Anaheim, California by his father who was a Baptist Minister and Secretary at the time.
Rob's passion for comics started when he was young. He was seen tracing canvas from graphic novels.
At high school Rob took on several art courses, and attended comic book conventions to add skills to his talent.
Career
Rob came to the limelight in 1990 through the comic project “X-Force” on Marvel Comics'.
In 1992, he together with other Marvel comic creators quit their job to start Image Comics. Rob's “Youngblood” was the first work the company published under Rob's own studio segment Extreme Studios. “Youngblood” was a hit and sold over 1 million copies.
The team is the brain behind comic masterpieces such as “Prophet”, “Avengelyne”, “Glory” “Bloodstrike”, “Brigade”, and “Supreme”.
Extreme Studios eventually became the go to studio in the comic craft, creating extraordinary works such as the popular “X-Men”.
Rob went to Marvel in 2019 with another comic sensation “Major X”, a series that was one of the best- selling comics at the time.
Awards
In 2012, Rob received an Inkpot Award in honor of his comic work.
