British-born politician Rishi Sunak is a member of the Conservative Party whose distinguished career has seen him serve as a Chancellor of the Exchequer and Chief Secretary to the Treasury.
Early Life
The politician was born to Yashvir and Usha Sunak. He had his education at Winchester College before proceeding to read philosophy, politics, and economics at Lincoln College. He was also a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business. After his studies, he worked for Goldman Sachs from 2001 to 2004 and later partnered with the Children's Investment Fund Management before venturing into politics.
Career
The politician ventured into politics and was elected the Member of Parliament for Richmond at the 2015 general election. He was also the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Local Government from 2018 to 2019. He later served as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020.
Sunak served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022. During his time as a Chancellor, Sunak became very popular for his swift response during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Personal Life
The politician married Akshata Murthy in 2009.
