About Ricky Skaggs
In 2016, renowned American singer Ricky Skaggs was elected into the famous Country Music Hall of Fame. The Kentucky-born musician began his musical career in his late 20s when he issued a series of hit singles.
He has been described as one of the originators of the music sub-genres known as Neotraditional country. The multiple award-winning singer shot to fame with his 1981 hit "You May See Me Walkin'". He established himself in the music industry with his 3rd studio album dubbed “Waitin' for the Sun to Shine”. His 1989 album, “Kentucky Thunder” is also considered as one of his most successful works.
Family
His dad Hobert Skaggs played a pivotal role in his rise to success. He had two children with Brenda Stanley named Mandy and Andrew. In 1981, he married Sharon White known for his time with the music group The Whites. The couple is blessed with two kids named Lucas and Molly.
Awards
Skaggs has been honored with many accolades including the Grammy Awards, Country Music Association Awards, and the Academy of Country Music Awards. He was the recipient of the National Medal of Arts in 2021.

He started playing the mandolin at the age of five years.
