About Rick James
Rick was an American singer, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who started music right from a tender age.
He fled to Canada in 1964 while trying to avoid being drafted into the U.S Navy. While in Canada, he founded a band named "the Mynah Birds".
Soon after his Musical career kicked off, the military learnt about his whereabouts, which led to him being convicted and sentenced to a one year imprisonment. After his time in prison, he relocated to California where he restarted his career with the launch of another rock and funk groups in around late 1960s and early 1970s.
Family Life
Rick James was born to father, James Ambrose Johnson Sr. who was an autoworker, and mother, Mabel Sims who was a professional dancer. He had eight siblings. He got married to Tanya Hijazi in 1996 and they both divorced in 2002. He had three children Rick Jr., Tyenza and Tazman.
Achievements
In 1991, Rick James won the "Best R&B Song" at the Grammy Awards in 1991.
In 1982, he got nominated for "Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male" and "Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male" at the Grammys.

He lost his virginity to a 14-year old girl at the age of 9 or 10.
