About Richard Widmark
Actor and producer Richard Widmark made a name for himself through his work in films, on stage and in television productions. He started acting professionally in 1938 through the radio drama, “Aunt Jenny’s Real Stories”.
He also made his Broadway debut (1943) prior to his first film role as Tommy Udo in “Kiss of Death”, which became successful and made him famous instantly. He also starred as President Paul Roudebush in the television series, “Vanished”.
Family Life
He was born to Carl Henry Widmark and Ethel Mae Barr, who raised him in Princeton, Illinois. From 1942 until 1997 (her death year), screenwriter Jean Hazlewood was his wife. They had one daughter together. Socialite Susan Blanchard became his second wife in 1999.
Achievements
He was a one-time Academy Award nominee. He was also the 1948 recipient of the Golden Globe Award for “New Star of the Year – Actor”.
Death
He died on 24 March 2008.
